Mary Henry

BS Psychology, MA Education, BS Art Psychotherapy & Integrative Counselling

Integrative Counsellor & Art Psychotherapist

Mary is an Integrative Counsellor and Art Psychotherapist with a background in Psychology and Education, and over 15 years’ experience working in education, supporting people through learning, personal development and change.

Her approach to therapy is warm, compassionate and person-centred. She believes that therapy is a collaborative process — a space where people can feel heard, understood and accepted, while developing greater insight into themselves and the patterns that may be holding them back.

Alongside talking therapy, Mary offers the option of using creativity and art as another way of exploring thoughts, emotions and experiences. Clients do not need to consider themselves “artistic” and there is never any pressure to create. Sometimes an image, colour, shape or simple creative exercise can express something that words cannot.

Mary’s academic background includes a BS in Psychology, an MA in Education and a BS in Art Psychotherapy and Integrative Counselling. She has also worked as a Psychology lecturer in Further Education for over a decade and authored Psychology: An Introduction in 2020.

She has particular experience supporting people navigating anxiety, low mood, confidence and self-esteem, disordered eating, identity and life transitions, as well as neurodiversity including ADHD and autism.

Mary’s aim is to create a safe, non-judgemental space where clients can slow down, make sense of what they are experiencing and reconnect with their own strengths and sense of direction.
